Part Four of Barnhouse’s commentary, “God’s River,” comments on Romans 5:1–11. The first of these is that it is God who justifies us. “Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect?” asks Paul. And the answer comes, “It is God who justifies” (Rom. 8:33). The source of our justification is God. The work is done by Him of whom Solomon said, “I know that, whatsoever God does, it shall be forever: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it” (Eccles. 3:14). Since the words “justify” and “righteousness” are two forms of the same root word, we could translate this
